Founded in 1919 as SCADTA, Avianca is the oldest airline still operating in the Americas. Over 105 years it has grown into a modern carrier with 128 aircraft—Airbus A319-100, A320-200, and Boeing 787-8—connecting travellers to over 100 destinations as part of Star Alliance.

• Carry-on: one personal item (max 18×14×10 in) and one cabin bag (up to 22 lbs).
• Infants: may bring a diaper bag and stroller if space allows.
• Checked (M/L fares): one bag up to 50 lbs.
• Checked (XXL fares): two bags up to 70 lbs each.
• Late additions of extra bags incur higher fees.

1. Check in online 24–48 hours before departure via Avianca’s check-in page.
2. Enter your booking code and last name.
3. Download or receive your boarding pass by email.
4. Cut-off times: international until 60 mins prior; domestic until 45 mins prior.
5. Arrive 3 hrs early for international flights, 2 hrs for domestic.

• Refundable tickets can be cancelled per fare rules; direct bookings cancelled within 24 hrs qualify for a 90% refund.
• Non-refundable tickets cannot be refunded in cash.
• Changes permitted within 24 hrs of booking; fare differences apply for changes made ≥7 days in advance; last-minute changes cost $25–$150.
• Upgrades can be requested online or at the airport counter.

Since May 15, 2024, Avianca no longer accepts minors under 15 travelling alone; all children must be accompanied by an adult. Passengers aged 15+ are treated as adults.

• Entertainment: narrow-body aircraft use personal-device streaming via onboard Wi-Fi; wide-body aircraft offer built-in screens for movies and info.
• Food & beverages: flights under 3 hrs get light snacks; flights over 3 hrs receive full meals; Business Class enjoys premium dining and drinks; Economy can purchase from the onboard sales menu.
• Special meals: baby meals on European flights; vegetarian and gluten-free options available on request.
• Onboard payments accepted via Visa, MasterCard, or coupons.
